Through the learning of this course, students are required to master the basic theory of transportation system simulation and the basic operation of VISSIM simulation software. On the basis of this, it is required to understand the latest development of transportation system simulation, make a preliminary study on the problems related to transportation ability of simulation, and deeply understand the basic ideas and methods in transportation simulation.


4.1 Introduction:

Teaching content: characteristics of simulation technology; the concept, advantages and disadvantages of road traffic system simulation; development of road traffic system simulation at home and abroad.

Basic requirements: master the concepts of simulation and traffic system simulation; advantages and disadvantages of road traffic system simulation; to understand the development of road traffic system simulation at home and abroad.

4.2 Basis of traffic simulation

Teaching content: object, model and experiment of traffic simulation; the introduction of traffic simulation software; steps for traffic system simulation.

Basic requirements: master the steps of traffic system simulation; familiar with traffic simulation objects and models; understand the characteristics and applications of common traffic simulation software.

4.3 Common models in micro traffic simulation

Teaching content: basic elements of micro traffic simulation model; road facility model; traffic generation model; vehicle following model; lane changing model; event response model.

Basic requirements: master the traffic generation model; familiar with the basic elements of micro traffic simulation model, vehicle following model; understand the road facility model, lane changing model; event response model.

4.4 Introduction to micro simulation software VISSIM

Teaching content: software introduction; set up simulation road network; the setting of traffic flow characteristics and exercise rules; setting of evaluation parameter inspector; test and calibration of simulation road network; public transport simulation; dynamic traffic distribution.

Basic requirements: master the establishment of simulation road network, traffic flow characteristics and the setting of exercise rules; familiar with the setting of evaluation parameter inspector; understand VISSIM usage, test and calibration of simulated road network, public transportation simulation, and dynamic traffic allocation.

4.5 Common models in traffic planning simulation

Teaching content: traffic generation prediction model; Traffic distribution prediction model; Traffic mode division prediction model; Traffic distribution prediction model.

Basic requirements: master the traffic generation prediction model; be familiar with traffic distribution prediction model, traffic distribution prediction model and traffic mode division prediction model.
